Maria Ciaccio

I started my career in the NHS as a Registered General Nurse working in surgery and then moved into the field of psychiatry as a Registered Mental Nurse working in acute and rehabilitative psychiatry. Later my natural curiosity and desire to promote change led me to become a ward manager, then into lecturing in psychiatry and physiology and then into research where I co-ordinated and managed clinical trials in oncology, rheumatology and orthopaedic research. 

During my nursing career I started to experience increasing levels of stress symptoms, so I started to use complementary and alternative therapies constitutionally to stay well.  I asked so many questions I was encouraged to learn these therapies, and I did. Since then, I have gained experience, skills, and knowledge into different health systems Classical Homeopathy, Bowen Technique, Scarwork, Reiki, Ear Acupuncture, Healing & Harmonising, Massage, Spiritual healing and more recently clinical hypnotherapy. This led me into starting a practice as a complementary and alternative therapist.

Each modality has its strengths and weakness and it was the weaknesses that motivated me to learn about other modalities to address those gaps. Now after 30 years’ experience as an NHS health professional and 15 years as an alternative therapist I feel I can offer a truly holistic and unique approach to health. With any therapy I offer I abide by the principles of that therapy to maintain its integrity and recommend other treatments as deemed appropriate.

Throughout my career I have helped people who have struggled with a variety of acute or chronic mental, emotional, or physical health issues and general well-being both as a nurse and therapist. I know that deciding to tackle a personal issue can feel very daunting and can make someone feel quite vulnerable making it difficult to reach out to a therapist to seek help. With my wide nursing and therapy experience I know I can make this process easy for patients. They can expect to receive a warm welcome, kindness and understanding, confidentiality, respect and dignity from a very experienced and gentle soul who is eager to work with them and to make their life better.
